Jonah Mac Backup privacy information
Updated November 7, 2026.
Purpose and data use
Jonah Mac Backup is a private, owner-operated utility running on the owner's Mac. It uses rclone to list, read and transfer selected backup files and their metadata between that Mac and the owner's Google Drive. Scheduled sync commands can create, update, move or remove files within the configured backup destinations.
The utility requests Google's full-drive OAuth permission, which allows access to read, create, change and delete Drive files. The owner controls which local sources and Drive destinations the backup commands use.
Storage and credentials
Original files remain in their source locations on the owner's devices. Backup copies are stored in the owner's Google Drive account; Google provides the cloud storage and applies its own service terms and privacy practices.
OAuth credentials are kept in an encrypted local rclone configuration. Its unlock secret is stored in the Mac Keychain. These pages do not collect or display credentials.
Some backup types add encryption before upload. Not every backup uses that additional encryption, and this page does not claim that a particular backup has completed or passed verification.
Sharing and this site
The utility does not sell backup data or use it for advertising. There is no public app signup. These pages have no analytics, scripts, external assets, service worker or data-entry forms.
Only this utility description, privacy information and contact address are published here. Backup files, resident information and other private content are not published by these pages.
Owner control and revoking access
The owner controls backup selection, schedules, retention and deletion. Revoking the utility's access in the Google Account stops future authorized access. Revocation does not delete copies already stored in Google Drive; the owner manages those copies separately.
